Where are we staying?
A charming coaching inn, The Pied Bull will give you that wholesome country pub vibe but in the heart of the city. Dating back to 1155, the interior speaks for itself with its original handmade staircase from 1535 and traditional furnishings - you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time! Boasting a restaurant, beer terrace and the only micro-brewery within Chester’s iconic city walls it oozes hospitality and comfort. Admire the wooden beams as you tuck into your delicious breakfast or settle in to your room where traditional really meets modern!

What is there to do nearby?
Deemed by the Roman’s as the capital of Britain, Chester is a microcosm of history, culture and vibrant modern living.
History
You won’t have to go far to discover the past of this picturesque city. Walk along the Chester City Walls for a full walking tour of the city with a bird’s eye view of its cobbled streets and bustling centre. Admire the beauty of Chester Cathedral before admiring the incredible Roman Amphitheatre.
Oasis in the city
As well as bustling shops and restaurants, you can still find moments of solitude and peace in the heart of the city. Wander down to the River Dee where you can grab an ice cream, a drink or even a boat ride! We’d recommend a trip down the river through the Grosvenor Bridge as you’ll pass by stunning manor houses on the shore. For something a little more grounded, Grosvenor Park is a luscious green space where you can escape the sounds of the city.
Vibrant Nightlife
Whether you’re visiting as a romantic getaway or perhaps enjoying the spoils of Chester Races, Chester is as vibrant at night as it is at daylight. Opt for a night of charming pubs starting at your very own The Pied Bull before crawling to spots such as The Coach House Inn, The Victoria, Ye Old Custom House, The Falcon and Kings head.
If cocktail and wine bars are more your poison, we recommend spots such as Prohibition, The Guild, The Cavern of the Curious Gnome and Popcorn.

Lovely Break Stayed in room 25 which is at the front of the hotel. The only complaint we had was the bright orange street light, even with curtains closed and some street noise. Other than that bed was comfortable. Room was large enough and nicely decorated. Bathroom was very nice as well. Breakfast was very good. The beers that are produced in their micro brewery were nice. On the whole a lovely old quirky hotel. If you don't like squeaky, wonky floors etc it's not for you. Me,i love them. I'd definitely stay again. The hotel doesn't have its own car park. We used Linenhall car park which is no more than a 10 min walk.

Very professional friendly service. THANKYOU First class very friendly service by Jack and Ash, thankyou. Would recommend 100 % I spilt my drink, completely my own fault, refilled without question, and very much appreciated. Jack and Ash went out of their way to keep me happy, for something that was my own fault

Best staff ever Exceptional as always. Stayed here a few times in the last 12 months. Food is always amazing, staff and customers very friendly along with excellent location. I just cannot fault this place at all…… Stayed in the little cottages (number 17) attached along with the four poster room at the back (27) and had an amazing stay throughout. Made some lovely memories and cannot wait to visit again.
